IP Applications CWK CLK CLN CL A CWA waterproof oil resistance Protection Rating Explanation The International Protection grade code (IP) is followed by two numbers, with the first number as the symbol to represent the protection classifica- tion for human body and solid foreign matter from a number of 0 to 6; the second number as the symbol to represent the degree of protection against permeation of water as a number from 0 to 9. It is protection against solid foreign matter (a pole,as an example) larger than 50mm or more in diameter. It protects against water droplets falling vertically. No protection No protection Oil-proof type: It is not harmfully affected by contact of oil droplets or oil shavings from any direction. IPX9K is the German DIN 40050 PART9 standard, defined as a protection that is regulated for high-temperature and high- pressurized water. Water is heated up to 80℃ and then sprayed at a water pressure in the range of 80 to 100 BARs at 14 to 16 liters per minute towards the test object. The test object is between a distance of 100 to 150 mm from the nozzle and sprayed in all directions at 0, 30, 60, and 90 degrees; then sprayed at a horizontal angle while it is being rotated, all done for a period of 30 seconds without being affected by water penetration. Oil resistant type: Oil drops and oily grease does not enter inside from any direction. It is protection against solid foreign matter (a finger, as an example) larger than 12.5 mm or more in diameter. It protects against water droplets falling vertically, even if the product is tilted within a 15 degree angle. It is protection against solid foreign matter (a tool, as an example) larger than 2.5mm or more in diameter. It protects against water sprayed from up to a vertical angle of 60 degrees. It is protection against solid foreign matter (wire, as an example) larger than 1.0 mm or more in diameter. It protects against water splash from all directions. Dust-proof type: Although completely preventing dust intrusion is impossible, the amount of dust invasion will not hinder the predetermined operation and safety of the electronic device. It protects against a water jet stream (sprayed from a nozzle in all directions). Dust resistant type: dust intrusion is completely prevented. It protects against a powerful water- jet stream (sprayed from a nozzle in all directions). ■ Cautionary Notes The IP rating stands for the grade of dust-proof and waterproof performance of the enclosure by itself. When using our products outdoors, be sure to refer to the product specifications for each product in order to select theappropriate installation location and mounting direction. It protects against temporarily immersion in water. It protects against applications used in diving conditions specified by the manufacturer. 1 F G 0 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 First classification number Protection rating for humans and solid foreign matter Second classification number Protection rating for water Supplementary Character What is IPX9K?
